“…and every Christmas, there was a great big fir in the parlor, and one of the servants would always pop me up so I could put on the angel.” Elizabeth smiled into Anamaria’s belly as she traced out a vague design on the other woman’s belly. On her other side, Will hmm’d into the dip of her waist and outlined stars on her leg, just below her skirt. “One of the few times my stepmother was halfway decent to me.”

“She still alive?” Anamaria asked, tone a little too ingenuous.

“Yes, and she’s a right bitch.” Will carefully flopped over so he wouldn’t hit Anamaria—and thus get a gun to the head—and tapped at the laptop sitting beside him. “Though I hear she’s been having a lot of problems with her financial records.”

Elizabeth playfully smacked him, then squeaked as he rolled her into a kiss. “Will! Honestly, you don’t need to. I’d toss all that money and land into the sea before I go back to that stuffy nonsense. I love it here.”

“Anyhow, y’look better tanned’n white as snow.” Anamaria and Will exchanged a glance, then heaved up Elizabeth together and tossed her shrieking into the pool. “Best soak it all in, fille. C’est bon pour la santé.”
