Firefly Unexpected Places by tafkar. Simon starts to wonder what the other crew members of Serenity wanted to be when they grew up. Great Jayne and Zoe backstory and snarky Simon.

Firefly Wine Glasses and Wire Cutters by Fish and RSB. A lighthearted story in which the crew take on a job and it all goes perfectly to plan, as usual. Funny and just the right tone for a Firefly episode.

Firefly Memories of Guns by Jade. What would life be like for Wash and Zoe's daughter? A short what-if that posits a long future for Serenity's crew, if nothing else. Warming but slightly sad.

Firefly Unexpected Perils by Pearl-o. A little story about Mal waking up with River in his bed. Conflicted Mal and sense-making yet misunderstood River. It's all good.

Firefly Shelter by Maystone. A short one, but incredibly sweet. The crew are stuck on an ice planet. They cope. Family bonding galore! And Wash is hysterical.

Firefly Matinee by Maystone. Mal, Inara, Kaylee, Wash, Zoe, Simon & Jayne watch a film. Funny and characterful. I liked Mal a lot in this one.

Firefly Perdition by Shan. The first half of this story reads like an actual episode complete with wonderful sci-fi detailing. The second half? Heh, well, not so much. Jayne and Simon are stranded, and the rest of the crew are in trouble themselves. A ripping yarn, as they, er, don't say anymore.

Firefly Wrong Way Home by Matthew. I can almost imagine this taking place in the series. Anyway, Simon is reminiscing, and Jayne is revealing a lot about his character. I really, really like the theme of this story.

Firefly Untitled by Philomel. A snippet of Zoe on the knife edge of despair during the war. She's a soldier, and she obeys. I particularly liked the opening and the way such a short piece managed to convey so much character.

Firefly Hot Bunk by Hossgal. Written for Firefly Friday on LJ, I like this so much because it hints at Jayne's life before Serenity, and shows how he would have related to his new bosses. Great insight into Jayne and Mal.

Firefly Options by Tara LJC O'Shea. Fills in a few of the gaps in The Message, focusing on Kaylee and Simon and their relationship. Kaylee/Simon isn't normally my thing but this is warm and characterful.

Firefly The Rescue by Tara LJC O'Shea. This gave me the warm fuzzies. Phlegmatic Kaylee, rampaging Jayne and snarky Simon. With special guest star Vera. A great slice of Firefly-life story.

Firefly Gentlemen and Ladies by puffgirl two. A little bit of what Simon might have talked about with Petaline during Heart Of Gold. This is a look at a more light hearted Petaline and a blushing Simon.

Firefly Scars by LJC. A beautiful fic comparing and contrasting Kaylee's family values with the Tam family's. There are different ways of bringing a kid up, and genteel ain't always the best. Kaylee/Simon.

Firefly Sturdy by Ana. An unusual one. A fleshed out look at Helen, one of the whores in the unaired episode 'Heart Of Gold'. Not a delicate story, but then that's the point. Outsider's insight into the Firefly verse.

Firefly Girl by Tara O'Shea. A touching piece of reflection from Simon as he looks at River for the first time in three years and sees the changes.

Firefly Not Yet by Tara O'Shea. River POV as she looks at what makes each crewmember tick. Detailed and thoughtful.

Firefly Hook, Line & Sinker by BK the irregular. A telling story about the many facets of Inara's work. And no blood is spilled.

Firefly Glass Walls by Ana. An AU set after 'Ariel', Jayne and Simon get banged up. Wonderful Jayne characterisation, with not everything tied up in a bow.

Firefly Inadequate Comforts by Nicole Clevenger. Post 'War Stories'. Mal and River and the aftermath of Zoe's choice. Sad and knowing.

Firefly Everything Running Like Normal by Nicole Clevenger. Post Out Of Gas, Mal hasn't recovered completely. Mal POV but all the crew are finely characterised.

Firefly The Mess by Maystone. A cute messhall vignette in which Wash plays with his dinosaurs and sundry crew stay in character.

Firefly/BtVS Given Name by Azar. An unlikely-seeming but effective crossover featuring River and a BtVS character. A delicate character piece.

Firefly Divergence by Ana. A chilling series of what-might-have-beens from the individual point of view of each character. I particularly liked Jayne's and Simon's.

Firefly Tourniquet by Pearl-O. Could be that Simon's the only thing stopping River from breaking apart. A Simon/River story with much left unsaid.

Firefly Oxygen by Eleanor K. Mal/Jayne story set after Ariel in which Jayne wants more than he bargained for and Mal wants more than Jayne bargained for as well. The characterisation of Jayne is especially interesting.

Firefly Uses Of Temptation, The by Maystone. A quiet, intimate and speculative look at the underused character of Book: Shepherd with a past.

Firefly Marital/Martial by Elizbeth Ann Lewis. Post 'War Stories', Wash is still unsure about Mal and Zoe. An interesting glance at their marriage and particularly at Zoe. A story about faith.

Firefly Settlement by Ana. 'Simon has settled, Mal hasn't'. A quiet, melancholy and hopeful future fic.

Firefly Close by Kirby Crow. Hypothermia fic. A sweet and funny Jayne/Simon story with all of Simon's sarcasm intact.

Firefly Battle Scars by Piper. Post Objects in Space, Jayne and Simon talk. A short and lucid piece about Simon's motivations.

Firefly Tetchy by debchan. A charmin' tale of escalating tensions featuring Simon and Jayne and assorted crewmembers being their uncouth selves. Gigglesome.

Firefly White Flag by Rachel Lee Arlington. Involving drugs, holding Jayne down and pretty eyes. Funny, with a smidgeon of dangerous.
